GA 400 Toll Road is Officially Closed

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal
Digging for coins to pay the GA 400 Toll Road fee of .50 is now a not so fond memory. Georgia Governor Nathan Deal was on hand to announce the road was officially closed.

Road crews took down all the signs and waved motorists through where they once would have stopped to pay.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, “Now, comes the hard part. The Georgia Department of Transportation reports “double lane closure in both directions” on GA 400 at the now-closed tollbooths from 7 p.m. on Friday to noon on Monday as crews install temporary barrier walls.”

The toll road was opened two decades ago to help ease traffic congestion. The State Roads and Toll Authority came under fire when the road wasn’t closed after it was paid for as originally planned. The toll road was no stranger to controversy; singer Keisha Coles feisty sister Neffe was once a coin collector at the Ga 400 Toll Plaza.
