GA 400 Toll Road is Officially Closed

Digging for coins to pay the GA 400 Toll Road fee of .50 is now a not so fond memory. Georgia Governor Nathan Deal was on hand to announce the road was officially closed.

Road crews took down all the signs and waved motorists through where they once would have stopped to pay.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, “Now, comes the hard part. The Georgia Department of Transportation reports “double lane closure in both directions” on GA 400 at the now-closed tollbooths from 7 p.m. on Friday to noon on Monday as crews install temporary barrier walls.”

The toll road was opened two decades ago to help ease traffic congestion. The State Roads and Toll Authority came under fire when the road wasn’t closed after it was paid for as originally planned. The toll road was no stranger to controversy; singer Keisha Coles feisty sister Neffe was once a coin collector at the Ga 400 Toll Plaza.

NeNe Leakes Open Casting Call for Curvy Models in ATL

NeNe Leakes has issued an open casting call via Instagram for models for her new clothing line.

The fiery Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member is well known for her sense of style. From her Casadei embroidered stiletto's to her Tom Ford ‘Veruschka’ Sunglasses; there is no question that this girl is haute!

Atlanta's curvy population is all abuzz over the possibility of modeling the new line. Model hopeful Tammara Beach is looking forward to the opportunity.

Beach, an outspoken Brooklynite stated, "I am very excited about auditioning for her line.  I think that NeNe represents a new type of woman...the totally audacious woman who creates lanes instead of following someone else and I think her clothing line with represent that woman well."

If you to believe you have what it takes grab your high heels and be prepared to walk the runway Wednesday, November 13th from 4pm - 7pm at Peter Thomas's Atlanta hot spot Bar One.

Atlanta Gets a New Area Code

Hold on to your 404 and 678 area codes ATL because these area codes are no longer being issued.

The Atlanta Journal- Constitution reported that, “for Downtown Atlanta and surrounding areas, the number is going to be 470,” John Manning, the senior director for the Virginia-based North American Number Planning Association, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “404 just recently assigned its last prefix.”

The historic 404 area code has been associated with Atlanta since 1947.  While area codes 770 and 678 were issued in the mid and late 1990's.

Current phone numbers will not be changed but all new numbers will include the 470.
