Georgia Executes Female Inmate

Kelly Gissendaner was put to death earlier today. The Georgia woman was sentenced after being convicted of the 1997 murder of her husband.

Gissendaner is the first female to be executed in Georgia in more than 70 years.

The death row inmate made a final statement before being executed for her role in stabbing death of husband Douglas Gissendaner.

She apologized “to an amazing man that lost his life because of me." Death by lethal injection was her punishment.
